Integrated Geophysical Prediction of Goaf and Water Accumulation in Pingshuo Dong Open-Cut Mine with Ultrashallow and High Drops

To address safety problems caused by goaf and water accumulation in open-pit mines, the shallow three-dimensional seismic method and transient electromagnetic method were integrated and applied to detect the mining goaf distribution scope and the water accumulation conditions. In view of the special topographic conditions of an ultrashallow layer and high drop in an open-pit mine, we proposed utilizing bin homogenization and multidomain joint denoising to improve the reliability of seismic data. By using seismic-sensitive attributes to predict the goaf, the transient electromagnetic method was employed to further predict the water accumulation in the goaf. The results show that the shallow seismic method could clearly reflect the reflected-wave variation features of the goaf. The Jiuzhou fault in the Langgu Sag of the Bohai Bay Basin is a significant oil-source fault that connects source rocks and reservoirs, and thus it can transport oil and gas during the hydrocarbon accumulation period. The hydrocarbon distribution characteristics along the strike of the Jiuzhou fault differ distinctly, indicating that the transport capacity in different fault segments is also different. In this study, we focused on analyzing the fault development characteristics to accurately predict the location of favorable hydrocarbon transport pathways on the Jiuzhou fault. The use of multilateral wells is an important method to effectively develop complex oil reservoirs, and wellbore stability research of multilateral wells is of great importance. In the present study, the effects of formation fluids and rock damage were not taken into account by the wellbore stability model. Therefore, finite element analysis (FEA) software was used to establish a three-dimensional (3D) seepage-stress FEA model for the multilateral junctions. The model was used to analyze the wellbore stability of multilateral wells and study influences of wellbore parameters and drilling fluid density on wellbore stability at multilateral junctions. The empirical formula is one of the traditional methods used for predicting ground deformation settlement caused by tunnel excavation. Due to its rationality and simplicity, the Peck formula is widely used for predicting surface subsidence. However, due to its limitations, it is necessary to modify it when predicting surface settlement caused by tunnel excavation in different strata. In this paper, a correction formula for the width coefficient of a tunnel surface settlement slot is derived from the Peck formula by taking into account the theory of strata slip cracks. Effects of Coal Permeability Anisotropy on Gas Extraction Performance

To investigate gas flow characteristics in coal seams with strong anisotropy, a coupled anisotropic dual-porosity model was established. Effects of permeability anisotropy on variations in gas pressure, gas extraction volume and effective extraction areas were analyzed. Furthermore, mechanisms of crustal stress, initial gas pressure, ultimate adsorption strain and Langmuir volume constant on permeability anisotropy and extraction amount were studied. Results show that permeability anisotropy could result in an elliptical pressure drop zone around production boreholes. Feedback-free fluidic oscillators, relying on the interaction of jets to oscillate, have a wide range of operation frequencies and no moving parts, which is promising for future applications. In this paper, the sweep angle, oscillation frequency, and volume flow rate of the feedback-free fluidic oscillator with a cavity width of 4.6 mm were measured experimentally, and the sweeping mechanism was analyzed based on the internal flow simulation. To improve the prediction of thin reservoirs with special geophysical responses, a geostatistical inversion technique is proposed based on an in-depth analysis of the theory of geostatistical inversion. This paper reviews alternative econometric approaches the literature has used to examine the connectedness between oil prices and exchange rates and illustrates their application using quarterly data from 1970: Q1 to 2022: Q1 for ASEAN-5 countries, which are as follows: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Although most studies examining the impact of oil prices and exchange rates apply the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach with symmetry, the quantile regression (QR) method is shown to offer a thorough investigation of the connectedness. For ASEAN-5 countries, we present a comparative analysis of both methodologies (OLS and QR) with and without asymmetry. Our findings suggest that asymmetric effects triggered by oil prices are noticeably heterogeneous across quantiles. Previous gas hydrate production tests conducted by the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey (GSGM) in 2017 and 2020 indicated the great potential of gas hydrates in the Shenhu Sea area in the Pearl River Mouth Basin (PRMB), China. The aerodynamic performance and noise spectrum of squirrel-cage fans are synchronously measured in an anechoic wind tunnel. The effect of blade lengths and different geometric configurations on the noise of a squirrel-cage fan is experimentally investigated. This paper focuses on the total sound pressure level and noise spectrum characteristics at different measurement points. Noise distributions of the outlet of the forward squirrel-cage fan exhibited axial-symmetry and large differences for those of vertical direction. Hydrocarbon fluid migration through faulted cap rocks was determined by comparing the maximum connected thickness of cap rocks required for hydrocarbon fluid migration and the actual values, since cap rocks are important in the study of hydrocarbon fluid distribution in petroliferous basins based on its migration mechanism(s). The maximum connected thickness required was identified by comparing the cap rocks, fault displacement, and oil/gas distribution. The hydrocarbon fluid at the Putaohua reservoir migrated to the overlying Saertu and Heidimiao reservoirs in the Bayan Chagan Area, northern Songliao Basin. The origin of deep-water mounds has been a topic of debate in recent years. In this study, newly collected seismic data were employed to characterize the mounds within the Meishan Formation in the Qiongdongnan Basin and a novel model was proposed. The result showed that pervasive mounds and ‘V’-shaped troughs were alternately distributed at the top of the Meishan Formation. They appeared as elongated ridges flanked by similarly elongated gullies, with the trending parallel with the strike of the basinward slope. The mounded features were considered to be formed in response to the tectonically induced seabed deformation. The research consisted of simulating the movement of a single vehicle in relation to the swarm leader on a square-shaped path, taking into account measurement errors characteristic of typical cheap navigation devices and the hydroacoustic system. The research showed that these methods allow for estimating position coordinates with an accuracy of about 0.5 m (RMS) in the case of a calibrated navigation system and about 3.6 m (RMS) in the case of a non-calibrated navigation system. It also showed that it can provide a higher accuracy of estimating position coordinates in terms of abeam angles of the swarm leader (relative bearing equal to approximately ±90°), as well as while ensuring minimizing systematic errors values and proper estimation of mean errors values concerning course and speed measurements.

A series of experimental tests on flow-induced motion (FIM) and energy conversion of two rigidly coupled triangular prisms (TRCTP) in tandem arrangement were conducted in a recirculating water channel with the constant oscillation mass mosc. The incoming flow velocity covered the range of 0.395 m/s ≤ U ≤ 1.438 m/s, corresponding to the Reynolds number range of 3.45 × 104 ≤ Re ≤ 1.25 × 105. The upstream and downstream triangular prisms with a width of 0.1 m and length of 0.9 m were connected by two rectangular endplates. For over three (3) decades, there has been an increase in research on energy sources from the production of oil using flexible marine risers, such as marine hoses. Marine hoses are conduits for special use as rubberized structures with hybrid polymer composites for offshore platforms in the oil and gas industry. This scientometric study uses qualitative, quantitative, and computational approaches. Data were retrieved using a research methodology that was created for this study using the SCOPUS and Web of Science (WoS) databases. This study provides a bibliometric literature review on marine hoses with an emphasis on the advancements made in the field from recent developments, geographical activity by countries, authorship histories, partnerships, funding sources, affiliations, co-occurrences, and potential research areas. Fault Evolution and Its Effect on the Sealing Ability of Mudstone Cap Rocks

To study the spatial distribution and scale of oil and gas near faults in petroliferous basins, a prediction model is established for the degree of damage that faults in different stages of evolution exert on the sealing ability of mudstone cap rocks by calculating the stages and degree of fault damage to the sealing ability of mudstone cap rocks. This model is applied to the Nanpu 5th Structure and the results show that at survey lines L2 and L8, the F1 Fault destroyed the sealing capacity of mudstone cap rock of the 2nd member of Dongying Formation (E3d2). The undamaged cap rock stage, when the degree of damage was zero, persisted from 23.8 to 16.0 Ma at survey line L2 and from 23.8 to 13.6 Ma at survey line L8. The tracking of magnetic field lines can be very expensive, in terms of computational burden, when the field sources are numerous and have complex geometries, especially when accuracy is a priority, because an evaluation of the field is required in many situations. In some important applications, the computational cost can be significantly reduced by using a suitable approximation of the field in the integrated regions. This paper shows how Chebyshev polynomials are well-suited for field interpolation in magnetic field-line tracking, then discusses the conditions in which they are most appropriate, and quantifies the effectiveness of parallel computing in the approximation procedures.

This paper presents the results of detonation parameters for ammonium nitrate-polyhydroxy alcohol mixtures and ternary explosive compositions modified by flaked aluminium. The detonation velocities, overpressures of blast waves and their specific impulses were determined. It was shown that the viscosity of liquid fuels is the leading property that determines the detonation parameters of the tested compositions.
