This study aims to investigate the impact of ICT capital services on economic growth and energy efficiency in China at both national and industrial levels during the period 2000−2020. To achieve this aim, this study introduces a measurement method for capital services, explores ICT’s contributions to economic growth, and analyzes the impact of ICT on energy efficiency. The empirical results of this study indicate that although the ICT capital services scale is relatively small, accounting for only 8.87% of the total in 2020, its growth rate is faster than that of non-ICT capital services, and the distribution of ICT capital services varies widely among different industries. Due to the complexity of greenhouse climate modeling, the current optimal control of greenhouse crop growth rarely considers the spatial distribution issues of environmental parameters. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is a technique to reduce the order of a model by projecting it onto an orthogonal basis. In this paper, POD is used to extract environmental features from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, and a low-dimensional feature subspace is obtained by energy truncation. With multi-dimensional interpolation, fast and low-dimensional reconstruction of the dynamic variation of greenhouse climates is achieved. Tidal energy resource characterisation using acoustic velocimetry sensors mounted on the seabed informs developers of the location and performance of a tidal energy converter (TEC). This work studies the consequences of miscalculating the established flow direction, i.e., the direction of assumed maximum energy yield. Considering data only above the proposed TEC cut-in velocities showed a difference in the estimated flow direction of up to 4°. Using a power weighted rotor average (PWRA) method to obtain the established flow direction resulted in a difference of less than 1° compared with the hub-height estimate. The developments in the field of nano-additives have increased in the recent years due to the desire to reduce the level of exhaust emissions in diesel engines. The soot characteristics of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) were experimentally investigated using two concentrations of titanium dioxide (TiO2) as nano-additives (25 ppm and 40 ppm) blended with C20D (composed of 20% castor oil methyl ester and 80% diesel fuel) and 30% exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The combustion of C20D + TiO2 increases brake thermal efficiency (BTE) by 2.8% in comparison with neat C20D, while a significant reduction was obtained in BSFC 6.5% and NOX emissions were maintained at a level parallel with diesel. The Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region is a critical contributor to global development from an environmental perspective. This study has reviewed carbon emissions from energy generation, influence factors from the population, economic growth and renewable energy, emission and energy intensity projection, spatial distribution characteristics, and decarbonization strategy. This work utilizes a comparison methodology between ASEAN countries in the emission intensity and energy intensity in the future projection of electricity conditions in 2030 or 2040, as well as opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as determined by the national policies of each government. The results show that Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia produce 79.7% of the electricity in the ASEAN region. The Influence of Pressure on Local Heat Transfer Rate under the Vapor Bubbles during Pool Boiling

This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the evolution of a nonstationary temperature field during ethanol pool boiling in a pressure range of 12−101.2 kPa. Experimental data were obtained using infrared thermography with high temporal and spatial resolutions, which made it possible to reconstruct the distribution of the heat flux density and to study the influence of pressure reduction on the local heat transfer rate in the vicinity of the triple contact line under vapor bubbles for the first time. It is shown that, for all studied pressures, a significant heat flux density is removed from the heating surface due to microlayer evaporation, which exceeds the input heat power by a factor of 3.3−27.7, depending on the pressure. Meanwhile, the heat transfer rate in the area of the microlayer evaporation significantly decreases with the pressure reduction. Strong mining pressure disasters are prone to happen when the mining working face is under residual pillars (MWFRPs). There are several models for magnetic hysteresis. Their key purposes are to model magnetization curves with a history dependence to achieve hysteresis cycles without a frequency dependence. There are different approaches to handling history dependence. The two main categories are Duhem-type models and Preisach-type models. Duhem models handle it via a simple directional dependence on the flux rate, without a proper memory. While the Preisach type model handles it via memory of the point where the direction of the flux rate is changed. A successful guaranteed launch of a mainline diesel locomotive is one of the most important and urgent problems of the rolling stock operation. Improvement of the start-up system of the main diesel locomotive when using a supercapacitor allows multiple restarts of diesel locomotives, meaning that the operation of the diesel locomotive can be stopped several times without wasting fuel in idle operations. In this study, we simulated the electric starting circuit of a diesel locomotive with a block of supercapacitors using the Matlab Simulink program. The simulation results show that using only a supercapacitor in the start-up system is impossible. Even though the supercapacitor produces the required current and voltage, its operating time is extremely insufficient. This work proposes a valorization route for spent coffee grounds (SCG), a widespread lignocellulosic residue, encompassing the production of: biomethane, lignin, and oligosaccharides as value-added products obtained simultaneously during a mild alkaline (NaOH) pretreatment. The studied operational variables were the reaction time (60−240 min), temperature (25−75 °C), and the NaOH concentration (0−2.5 M). The severity factor suitably describes the global process kinetics, with higher severities (log Mo = 5.5) yielding high product yields, 18.02% and 13.25% (on dry SCG basis) for lignin and oligosaccharides (XGMOS), respectively. Energy efficiency in buildings is very important since it contributes significantly to fossil fuel consumption and consequently climate change. Several approaches have been taken by researchers and the industry to address the issue. These approaches are classified as either passive or active approaches. The purpose of this review article is to summarize a number of the technologies that have been investigated and/or developed. In this technical review paper, the more commonly used active and passive building energy conservation techniques are described and discussed. The pros and cons of both the active and passive energy techniques are described with appropriate reference citations provided. In Northeast Brazil, the use of biomass for energy generation is settled on traditional productive arrangements, such as a sugarcane production system in the humid Atlantic coastal area and firewood extraction from native tropical dry forests in the west. In parallel, substantial amounts of other biomass sources, such as residues from agricultural or urban processes, are still little used or wholly wasted, fudging the opportunity to generate new value chains based on these biomass sources. We hypothesize that using these non-traditional biomass sources to produce biofuels would significantly increase the regional bioenergy supply. In light of the energy and environment issues, fuel cell vehicles have many advantages, including high efficiency, low-temperature operation, and zero greenhouse gas emissions, making them an excellent choice for urban environments where air pollution is a significant problem.
