The authors propose a new method of predictive replacements of belt sections in a conveyor belt loop with their refurbishment based on their condition recognized by specially designed diagnostic devices: DiagBelt and BeltSonic. Selection of the moment for belt replacement is made on the basis of forecasted state of its wear, when steel cable failure density exceeds the selected threshold or the percentage of belt covers abrasion exceeds the permissible level. The use of double belt refurbishment extends the total belt operation time, but without diagnostics, the reconditioning success rate is relatively low. Visual inspection allows only an uncertain assessment of cable condition. New devices give precise assessment of their condition and allow the selection of a non-linear rate of belt condition based on consecutive scans. Traditionally, the Economic Dispatch Model (EDM) integrating Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units aims to reduce fuel costs by managing power-only, CHP, and heat-only units. Today, reducing pollutant emissions to the environment is of paramount concern. This research presents a novel honey badger optimization algorithm (HBOA) for EDM-integrated CHP units. HBOA is a novel meta-heuristic search strategy inspired by the honey badger’s sophisticated hunting behavior. In this research, the advantages of the e-scooter tool used in the mail or package delivery process were discussed by considering the Turkish Post Office (PTT) data in the districts of Istanbul (Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Kartal, and Maltepe) in Turkey. The optimization Poisson regression model was utilized to deliver the maximum number of packages or mails with minimum cost and the shortest time in terms of energy consumption, cost, and environmental contribution. Statistical and optimization results of dependent and independent variables were calculated using numerical and categorical features of 100 e-scooter drivers. Are small-scale wind turbines green? In this study, we perform a ‘cradle to grave’ life cycle assessment of a novel domestic-scale 10 kW vertical axis wind turbine tree which uses combined Savonius and H-Darrieus blades. Situated at a test site in Surat Thani, Thailand, SimaPro software was used to evaluate the environmental impact profile of the tree. Comparisons to the Thai grid mix were made, using both with and without end-of-life treatments. Impact profiles were calculated using wind data collected over two years at Surat Thani, and from wind data from a higher capacity factor (CF) site at Chiang Mai, Thailand. Energy and greenhouse gas payback times were estimated for both locations. The relative magnitudes of impacts were compared with environmental prices protocol, and we investigated reductions in impacts using three mitigative scenarios: changes to design, transportation and materials. This work proposes an improved locating method based on broadband impedance spectrum (BIS) to locate local defects in XLPE cables. The calculation process of the algorithm has been analyzed. The selection of the incident Gaussian signal and the peak recognition method have been discussed, where the pulse width of the Gaussian signal was found to be determined primarily by the upper limit frequency of the traveling wave transmitting in the cable. Recent research has utilized DRL to obtain optimal solutions for complex real-time optimization problems, including demand response (DR), where traditional methods fail to meet time and complex requirements. Although DRL has shown good performance for particular use cases, most studies do not report the impacts of various DRL settings. This paper studies the DRL performance when addressing DR in home energy management systems (HEMSs). The trade-offs of various DRL configurations and how they influence the performance of the HEMS are investigated. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the characteristics and the energy potential for the methane production of fine screenings collected from the primary stage of a municipal wastewater treatment plant, and assess the impact on the properties and the oxygen demand of the aqueous effluents downstream from the sieves. Commercial filter bags with sieve openings of 3000, 1250, 1000, and 300 μm were used for the collection of screenings following a measurement of their biochemical methane potential. It was revealed that solid fractions from the sieves with a large size presented a high net methane production capacity exceeding 900 mL/g VS, but the gas production rate was rather slow, requiring a long time to reach the final value. In the research carried out by the authors, an approach to the assessment of the project environment of technologically integrated “European Green Deal” projects using corn waste was developed, which takes into account the changing project environment, which determines the risk of the specific cost of disposal of corn waste.
