Modelling of thermal energy storage (TES) systems is a complex process that requires the development of sophisticated computational tools for numerical simulation and optimization. Analysis of Outburst Coal Structure Characteristics in Sanjia Coal Mine Based on FTIR and XRD

In order to reveal the distribution characteristics of functional groups and the difference of microcrystalline structure parameters between outburst coal and primary coal, the coal samples inside and outside the outburst holes of the Sanjia coal mine were examined. The functional groups and microcrystalline structure parameters of outburst coal and primary coal in the Sanjia coal mine were studied by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiment and peak-splitting fitting method. The results showed that the substitution mode of the benzene ring in an aromatic structure was mainly benzene ring tri-substituted, with primary coal of 32.71% and outburst coal of 31.6%. The primary coal contained more functional groups, from which hydrogen bonds can easily be formed, meaning that gas is not easily adsorbed by coal. The non-thermal plasma pyrolysis of fuel oil, under the action of low-voltage electric discharges in the liquid phase, has made it possible to develop a new process to obtain valuable petrochemical products. In this study, the main parameters, including pulse energy and the time of impact on the non-thermal plasma pyrolysis process, are studied. The main components of the obtained gaseous products are hydrogen (27.6−49.6 mol%), acetylene (33.6−49.1 mol%), ethylene (6.9−12.1 mol%), methane (3.9−9.1 mol%), and hydrocarbons C3-C5 (3.8−9.3 mol%). Increasing the capacity of electric discharges leads to an increase in the content of acetylene in the gas phase to 49.1 mol% and a decrease in energy costs for the production of gaseous products.

In order to obtain the cheap waste calcium-based sorbent, three wasted CaCO3 precursors, namely carbide slag, chicken eggshells, and analytical reagent-grade calcium carbonate, were selected and prepared at 700 °C to form calcium-based sorbents for CO2 capture. TGA was used to test the CO2 uptake performance of each calcium-based sorbent in 20 cycles. To identify the decay mechanism of CO2 uptake with an increasing number of cycles, all calcium-based sorbents were characterized by using XRF, XRD, and N2 adsorption. The specific surface area of calcium-based sorbents was used to redefine the formula of cyclic carbonation reactivity decay. Vibration drilling technology induced by hydraulic pulse can assist the bit in breaking rock at deep formation. Simultaneously, the pulsed jet generated by the hydraulic pulse promotes removal of the cuttings from the bottom hole. Nowadays, the cuttings removal mechanism of the pulsed jet is not clear, which causes cuttings to accumulate at the bottom hole and increases the risk of repeated cutting. In this paper, a pressure-flow rate fluctuation model is established to analyze the fluctuation characteristics of the pulsed jet at the bottom hole. Based on the model, the effects of displacement, well depth, drilling fluid viscosity, and flow area of the pulsed jet tool on the feature of instantaneous flow at the bottom hole are discussed. According to the IPCC, a global carbon budget of 400 GtCO2 is required to limit the temperature rise to 1.5 °C with a 67% likelihood by 2050. The finance industry is increasingly committed to ambitious climate targets. In this article, we describe the detailed methodology and energy model architecture of a MATLAB-based integrated energy assessment model for industry-specific 1.5 °C pathways, with a high technical resolution of target parameters as key performance indicators (KPIs). The additionality of OECM 2.0 is the high technical resolution in terms of the level of detail of industry-specific energy demand and supply parameters that can be modeled—a prerequisite to define industry-specific KPIs. We found that a database of industry-sector-specific energy demands and energy intensities, with a consistent methodology, is required to improve the accuracy of calculations in future research. We supplement the technical documentation with the results for a transport scenario.

In this study, the effect of capitalization premium in forest estate markets on forest management and climate change mitigation economics is investigated. It is shown that proportional goodwill in capitalization induces linear scaling of the financial return, without any contribution to sound management practices. However, there is a financial discontinuity, as harvesting deteriorates goodwill. Such deterioration might be partially avoided by entering the real estate market. Conversely, a capitalization premium set on bare land as a tangible asset would increase timber storage and carbon sequestration. Observations indicate that the proportional goodwill is closer to reality within the Nordic Region, resulting in continuity problems.

The subject of a gas jet generated by underwater detonation is an important issue in the field of underwater propulsion. The experimental system of underwater detonation is established, which utilizes a high-speed camera to record the morphological changes in bubbles and various pressure sensors to measure the flow field pressure. The effect of nozzles and the pressure of the flow field are analyzed thoroughly. The comparison of the bubble and field pressure shows that the shrinking nozzle increases the peak pressure of the transmitted shock wave generated by underwater detonation compared with that of the straight nozzle. Historical (retrospective analysis of the development of the monitoring system of long-term permafrost in Russia) and logical (inductive generalization) methods were applied. The structure and methods of permafrost monitoring in the Soviet Union and new technologies used nowadays to establish permafrost monitoring systems, taking into account modern Arctic energetic development, have been analyzed.
