Among them, code-reuse attacks are still an effective means of abusing software vulnerabilities. Although state-of-the-art address space layout randomization (ASLR) runtime-based solutions provide a robust way to mitigate code-reuse attacks, they have fundamental limitations; for example, the need for system modifications, and the need for recompiling source codes or restarting processes. To improve the energy performance of restored cultural heritage buildings, it is necessary to know the real values of thermal conductivity of its envelope, mainly of the facades, and to study an intervention strategy that does not interfere with the preservation of their cultural and architectural values. The brick walls with which a large number of these buildings were constructed, usually absorb water, leading to their deterioration, whereas the heat transmission through them is much higher (than when they are dry). This paper presents the morphological composition of fraction <80 mm, being separated from municipal solid waste (MSW) and delivered in the winter season to the 21 mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) plants throughout several regions of Poland. This fraction is hereinafter referred to as OFMSW (organic fraction of municipal solid waste). Their properties are considered while using parameters such as: moisture, loss on ignition and organic carbon content, as well as moisture and loss on ignition of screen fractions <10 mm and 10−20 mm that are found within. The main aim of this research was to test waste from 21 industrial installations, and to prove that ash content (fine fractions) in waste intended for MBT was about 1/3 of the mass of overall OFMSW mass. Improvement of Waste Dehydrated Sludge for Anaerobic Digestion through High-Temperature and High-Pressure Solubilization

Biochemical methane potential tests and lab-scale continuous experiments were conducted to improve the yield and energy efficiency of anaerobic digestion through thermal hydrolysis pre-treatment. Development of a Modified Plug-Flow Anaerobic Digester for Biogas Production from Animal Manures

Traditional plug-flow anaerobic reactors (PFRs) are characterized by lacking a mixing system and operating at high total solid concentrations, which limits their applicability for several kinds of manures. This paper studies the performance of a novel modified PFR for the treatment of pig manure, characterized by having an internal sludge mixing system by biogas recirculation in the range of 0.270−0.336 m3 m−3 h−1. Malaysia is one of the largest palm oil producers worldwide and its most abundant waste, palm oil mill effluent (POME), can be used as a feedstock to produce methane. Anaerobic digestion is ideal for treating POME in methane production due to its tolerance to high-strength chemical oxygen demand (COD). In this work, we compared the culture conditions during the start-up of anaerobic digestion of acidified POME between thermophilic (55 °C) and mesophilic (37 °C) temperatures. The pH of the digester was maintained throughout the experiment at 7.30 ± 0.2 in a working volume of 1000 mL. This study revealed that the thermophilic temperature stabilized faster on the 44th day compared to the 52nd day for the mesophilic temperature. The important feature of the proposed approach is that our models are different from standard ones in terms of factor (inputs and outputs) unification. A problem with standard models is that they produce different efficiency measures for input and output orientations. In order to monitor the transient voltage process occurring in UHV GIL during operation, this paper constructs a transient voltage ultra-wideband (UWB) online monitoring system based on capacitive voltage division. This system has been applied in an 1100 kilovolt (kV) GIL utility tunnel project. It can be used to analyze the characteristics of the recorded transient voltage waveforms for distinguishing different types of insulation failure. Energy and Local Safety: How the Administration Limits Energy Security

Energy safety is multifaceted and is not limited only to nuclear plants. The research on local energy safety is not considerable. This article creates new ground by analysing the Polish local energy safety system in the cause−effect context. Consistent with an abductive approach, this paper’s insights have emerged iteratively based on the theory reviewed and the empirical case. The research aimed to determine whether the local administration negatively affected energy security and proposed preventive measures increased limited energy security. The findings show that flawed local government operations reduce local energy safety. Moreover, the State authorities did not recognise the weaknesses of the local energy safety system properly.
