Synthesis of Superparamagnetic Fe3O4 Nano-Adsorbent Using an Energy-Saving and Pollution-Reducing Strategy for the Removal of Xylenol Orange Dye in Water

The superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles as an absorbent with a size distribution of 4.8−6.4 nm were synthesized using a simple one-pot hydrothermal strategy at 200 °C for 24 h, where iron citrate and distilled were the sum total of raw materials. The as-synthesized Fe3O4 powders showed rapid and efficient adsorption for xylenol orange with a saturated adsorption amount of 42.5 mg/g according to Langmuir linear fitting, and the adsorption reaction between xylenol orange adsorbate and Fe3O4 adsorbent was mostly completed within 10 min. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles not only had superparamagnetism with a saturation magnetization value of 54.9 emu/g at 15 kOe but also possessed strong magnetic response, making them easy to separate easily from aqoeous solution under the attraction of magnet. In this work, the Fe3O4 particles can be totally attracted toward the magnet within 15 s, leaving the suspension a clear solution.

Methods for obtaining efficient sorption materials based on highly porous melamine and polyurethane matrices modified with reduced graphene oxide were developed. Reduced graphene oxides (rGOs) were synthesized from graphene oxide suspensions using potassium hydroxide, ascorbic acid or hydrazine hydrate. Co-Gasification of Refuse Derived Fuel and Wood Chips in the Nong Bua Dual Fluidised Bed Gasification Power Plant in Thailand

Co-gasification of refuse derived fuel (RDF) and wood chips was experimented in the Nong Bua dual fluidised bed steam gasifier in Thailand. The effect of the mass of RDF pellets in the feed fuel (R/F ratio) was investigated on the performance of the entire process conditions and the product gas properties. The test results showed that the addition of small mass ratio of RDF pellets up to 30% did not affect the process operation conditions. The concentrations of H2, CO, CO2, and CH4 from a binary mixture of RDF pellets and wood chips were in the same ranges as that from pure wood chips. The lower heating value of the product gas was as high as 13.2−13.6 MJ/Nm3 for all the R/F ratio fuels. Effects of Heating on the Binding of Rare Earth Elements to Humic Acids

The encouraging Design for Disassembly appears in the literature more and more often. Such a design appears to offer clear environmental advantages. However, there are still not enough research results to support the existence of these benefits. The authors using the Life Cycle Assessment method, which assesses the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions during the demolition and operation of steel structure. Steel is completely recyclable and, in terms of tonnage, is the most recycled material worldwide. We assessed three scenarios: (1) complete re-remelting (recycling) of the structure; (2) partial reuse of construction elements + remelting (recovery + recycling); and (3) complete reuse of the structure (recovery).
