Research on the Spillover Effect of China’s Carbon Market from the Perspective of Regional Cooperation

Automotive Fuel Cell Systems: Testing Highly Dynamic Scenarios

PEM fuel cell systems face highly dynamic load profiles in automotive application. This work showcases the impact of media supply adaption, system architecture and test rig restrictions on the transient voltage response of an automotive fuel cell stack. Current step and load profile experiments were conducted on a system test rig, featuring automotive balance of plant components, and a short stack test bench. A time scale analysis allowed us to identify the predominant effect for the voltage response in each test case. The voltage response measured in the test cases was dominated either by air supply, membrane humidification or coolant temperature dynamics. This systematic comparison of different types of test setups highlights the importance of application-like system level testing as, in contrast to common experiments, different phenomena shape the electrical stack behavior.

A Facile Approach for the Encapsulation of Perovskite Solar Cells

Effectively encapsulating perovskite solar cells (PSCs) to enhance the external reliability is the key towards commercialization. We herein propose a facile encapsulation method by introducing conductive ribbons and a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) backsheet on both sides of PSC. Via applying thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) encapsulant, we implemented PSCs with fine encapsulation, enabling considerable durability in the ambient atmosphere and even with water immersion, demonstrating almost no degradation in the device output, which is ascribed to the low water vapor transmission rate as well as the high chemical stability of TPO. The operation reliability of the encapsulated cell is also significantly increased, maintaining 80% of the initial efficiency after 770 hours’ light illumination in an ambient atmosphere. This novel encapsulation route provides a feasible idea for the commercial application of PSCs in the future.

The physical properties of viburnum seeds have not been investigated in the literature to date. A three-leg converter with different primary turns is presented on its high-voltage side to extend the input voltage range. The current doubler rectification circuit is adopted on the output side to have low current ripple capability. This article presents methods and results of experimental research to determine the power consumed when driving the working bodies of the straw bedding mobile spreader to cover cow stalls (boxes). Analysis of the design and mode parameters of the rotary finger working body influence on the energy consumption of the bedding material spreading process is carried out. Using the experimental data, it was established that the power consumed to drive the rotary finger working body of the mobile straw bedding spreader, at the tractor power take-off (PTO) shaft rotation speed of 540 min−1, the forward unit speed of 2 km/h, and performance of 1.5 kg/s, is equal to 7.633 kW. Long-term structure stability of aerobic granules is critical to maintaining stable wastewater treatment performance. In this study, granulation and long-term stability of sludge-treating synthetic wastewater with a low chemical oxygen demand to nitrogen (COD/N) ratio of 4:1 and COD concentration of 400 mg/L in anoxic-oxic conditions were investigated for over 300 days. Inoculated suspended sludge gradually transformed into granules-dominant sludge on day 80. Due to the improved sludge volume index after 30 min settling (SVI30), mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) reached 5.2 g/L on day 140. Effect of Tip Clearance on Helico-Axial Flow Pump Performance at Off-Design Case

To reveal the effect of tip clearance on the flow behaviors and pressurization performance of a helico-axial flow pump, the standard k-ε turbulence model is employed to simulate the flow characteristics in the self-developed helico-axial flow pump. The pressure, streamlines and turbulent kinetic energy in a helico-axial flow pump are analyzed. Results show that the tip leakage flow (TLF) forms a tip-separation vortex (TSV) when it enters the tip clearance and forms a tip-leakage vortex (TLV) when it leaves the tip clearance. As the blade tip clearance increases, the TLV moves along the blade from the leading edge (LE) to trailing edge (TE). At the same time, the entrainment between the TLV and the main flow deteriorates the flow pattern in the pump and causes great hydraulic loss. Operation of Submerged Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactors at 20 °C: Effect of Solids Retention Time on Flux, Mixed Liquor Characteristics and Performance

Four flat-sheet submerged anaerobic membrane bioreactors ran for 242 days on a simulated domestic wastewater with low Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and high suspended solids. Organic loading was maintained around 1.0 g COD L−1 day−1, while solids retention time (SRT) was varied from 20−90 days. This was achieved at a constant membrane flux, maintained by adjusting transmembrane pressure (TMP) in the range 1.8−9.8 kPa. Membrane fouling was assessed based on the required TMP, with mixed liquors characterised using capillary suction time, frozen image centrifugation and quantification of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). SRT had a significant effect on these parameters: fouling was least at an SRT of 30 days and highest at 60 days, with some reduction as this extended to 90 days. Liquid Hot Water Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass at Lab and Pilot Scale

Liquid hot water pretreatment is considered to be a promising method for increasing biomass digestibility due to the moderate operational conditions without chemical additions. A necessary step towards the scalability of this pretreatment process is performing pilot plant trials. Upscaling was evaluated with a scaling factor of 500, by using 50 mL in the laboratory and 25 L in a pilot plant batch reactor. Pretreatment times were varied from 30 to 240 min, and temperatures used were 180−188 °C, while applying similar heating profiles at both scales. The initial mass fraction of poplar wood chips ranged from 10% to 16%. Liquid hot water pretreatment at laboratory and pilot scale led to analogous results. The acetic acid analysis of the liquid and solid fractions obtained after pretreatment indicated that complete deacetylation of poplar biomass can be achieved.

Application of Ultrasonic Atomization in a Combined Circulation System of Spray Evaporative Cooling and Air Cooling for Electric Machines

A combined circulation system of spray evaporative cooling and air cooling (CCSSECAC) is a way to enhance the cooling performance of an air-cooled electric machine while maintaining its existing structure. Based on a traditional air-cooled machine, when the discrete evaporative cooling medium particles are scattered into the airflow, they will reach the heat source with the air circulation. The cooling capacity of the cooling system is enhanced simultaneously through the phase transition and convection heat transfer. Ultrasonic atomization is a simple way to produce tiny droplets and a good way to improve the performance of CCSSECAC. To verify the effectiveness of such a system, a principle test model was built and a multi-operational condition experiment was carried out as an exploratory study. The experimental results showed that the new cooling system was feasible for horizontal machines, and the stator coil temperature was significantly reduced compared with the air-cooled mode.

Deep Ultraviolet AlGaN-Based Light-Emitting Diodes with p-AlGaN/AlGaN Superlattice Hole Injection Structures

The p-AlGaN/AlGaN superlattice (SL) hole injection structure was introduced into deep ultraviolet (DUV) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to enhance their performances. The period thicknesses of the p-Al0.8Ga0.2N/Al0.48Ga0.52N SLs affected the performances of the DUV LEDs. The appropriate period thickness of the p-Al0.8Ga0.2N/Al0.48Ga0.52N SL may enhance the hole injection of DUV LEDs. Therefore, compared with the reference LEDs, the DUV LEDs with the 10-pair Al0.8Ga0.2N (1 nm)/Al0.48Ga0.52N (1 nm) SL presented forward voltage reduction of 0.23 V and light output power improvement of 15% at a current of 350 mA. Furthermore, the 10-pair Al0.8Ga0.2N (1 nm)/Al0.48Ga0.52N (1 nm) SL could slightly suppress the Auger recombination and current overflow of the DUV LEDs in a high-current operation region. This work explores for the first time the use of a fed-batch and continuous packed-bed millibioreactor for the chemoenzymatic oxidation of 2,5-furandicarboxaldehyde (DFF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA). Different operational variables were studied: temperature, substrate concentration, and flow rate using different reactors (batch, fed-batch, and a continuous packed-bed bioreactor). The best yield (100%) was achieved using the fed-batch reactor at an H2O2 flow rate of 3 µL/min with a substrate concentration (DFF) of 100 mM. Regarding the specific productivity, the highest values (>0.05 mg product/min g biocatalyst) were reached with the operation in the fed-batch bioreactor and the continuous packed-bed bioreactor. A franchise business is a contractual relationship in which the franchisor and franchisee should cooperate to promote sustainable growth of their franchise entities. However, it is still unclear whether the relationship between franchisees and franchisors is a principal−agent or a business partner sharing a business goal. Thus, this study is a first attempt to investigate the relationship between franchisees and franchises using metafrontier and bootstrap DEA from the perspective of efficiency. We measured the efficiency of coffee franchises in Korea, which have grown rapidly in recent years despite the COVID-19 pandemic. With the increasing operation time of tunnels, the drainage system cannot fulfil its proper function as a result of the deterioration of traditional waterproof and drainage systems (TWDS), such as the blockage of drainage blind pipes and the failure of drainage boards. Therefore, the lining bears a high water pressure and even causes disasters such as tunnel leakage and lining cracking. An effective solution to mitigate these issues is to adjust the tunnel drainage scheme. In view of this, a composite waterproof and drainage system (CWDS) is proposed in this paper. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed system, a series of model experiments were conducted to study the change law of the seepage field of two drainage systems under different blockage conditions.
