The Lean Blowout Prediction Techniques in Lean Premixed Gas Turbine: An Overview

The lean blowout is the most critical issue in lean premixed gas turbine combustion. Decades of research into LBO prediction methods have yielded promising results. Predictions can be classified into five categories based on methodology: semi-empirical model, numerical simulation, hybrid, experimental, and data-driven model. First is the semi-empirical model, which is the initial model used for LBO limit prediction at the design stages. An example is Lefebvre’s LBO model that could estimate the LBO limit for eight different gas turbine combustors with a ±30% uncertainty. To further develop the prediction of the LBO limit, a second method based on numerical simulation was proposed, which provided deeper information and improved the accuracy of the LBO limit. Polyethylene has widely been used in radiative cooling applications because of high transmittance values in the atmospheric window. Hydraulic fracturing for oil-gas and geothermal reservoir stimulation is closely related to the propagation of Mode I crack. Impact Tests and Computed Tomography Scans of Prismatic Battery Cells

Recently, the use of prismatic cells in electric vehicles has increased significantly. Unlike the cylindrical or pouch format, the prismatic cell format has not been sufficiently investigated. In this study, quasi-static mechanical tests are performed on prismatic cells. The tests include a cylindrical and a hemispherical impactor that mechanically load the cells in all three spatial directions. In both in-plane directions, a cell stack consisting of three cells is tested to capture the influence and loading of the outer cells of a cell stack. It is found out that, in the in-plane tests, short-circuiting occurs first in the outer cells and subsequently in the middle cell, which is targeted by the impactor. This result can also be supported by computed tomography scans. The results illustrate that, when evaluating the crash safety of battery cells, several cells should always be tested in order to capture the different loading of the cells.

This article presents a new method of excitation for a fast-changing rotating magnetic field (RMF) of higher frequencies (HF) causing the hyperthermic effect in magnetic fluids. The method proposed here uses a magnetic field exciter (inductor) consisting of a ferrite magnetic circuit and a system of coils connected in a two-phase arrangement. The proposed system is powered by two higher-frequency rectangular signals, with a 90-degree phase shift between each other, through HF transformers with ferrite cores. Solar ponds are characterized by high storage capacity and the ability to provide a stable and continuous power source. Careful selection of the extraction rate helps to maintain supply temperature in a range suitable for the operation of an absorption unit. This study proposed a system in which a solar pond is coupled with an absorption chiller to investigate the resulting advantages. The chiller is cooled by using water of the upper convective zone, which ensures that the limit of deterioration of its performance is not reached and eliminates the need for an expensive cooling system. The importance of renewable energies and energy storage system forming a micro-grid and integrating it to the electrical grid is widely spread. A supervisory system plays a crucial role in controlling, managing, and planning the micro-grid. This paper demonstrates the development of a new custom supervisory system based on Internet of Things (IoT), creating an information sharing environment. The proposed supervisory system is based on open-source tools for a micro-grid, composed of a photovoltaic power plant and a storage system, employing smart devices and making non-smart devices compatible with IoT systems. The new supervisory improves the available system by incorporating new features and devices and increasing the data polling rate when necessary. Floating solar energy is an industry with great potential. Fuel Consumption Dependence on a Share of Reduction Processes in Imperial Smelting Furnace

The paper shows the use of novel modelling techniques adapted from ironmaking in the pyrometallurgical process of zinc production. Firstly, regarding the purpose to determine the boundary conditions of reduction processes taking part in the working volume of an Imperial Smelting Furnace (ISF), a deep thermochemical analysis was conducted. On this basis and using Ramm’s principles of direct and indirect reduction optimal share, the fuel rate minimization model was built. The model’s leading role is minimizing coke consumption in the ISF while maintaining the thermal state of the furnace at the correct level. In addition, the proposed presentation of the ISF thermal state shows in a unified way all the shortcomings in the correct process operation. Verification in real conditions on the ISF in Miasteczko Śląskie shows that model implementation can bring tangible benefits. Coke savings can reach over 30 kg per tonne of raw zinc.

Heat Integration for Phenols and Ammonia Recovery Process of Coal Gasification Wastewater Considering Optimization of Process Parameters

A heat integration optimization method that considers the changes in process parameters is proposed to find the global optimal process scheme for a coal chemical company’s phenols and ammonia recovery process. The phenols and ammonia recovery process is simulated by Aspen Plus, and a programming method for heat exchanger networks synthesis that can simultaneously optimize process parameters and heat integration is constructed by Matlab. Taking the total annual cost as the objective function, the following process parameters are optimized: the hot feed temperature and cold/hot feed ratio of sour water stripper, the temperature of three-step partial condensation system, the feed temperature and column pressure of both solvent distillation column and solvent stripper. Owing to the shortage of rare-earth magnetic materials, various methods are being examined to reduce the use of magnets. One of these is a consequent pole. The consequent pole model can reduce the use of magnets by 50% using only one pole of the magnet and replacing the other pole with iron. However, the consequent pole has the disadvantage of generating back EMF asymmetry and a high cogging torque. In this study, an intersect magnet consequent pole structure is proposed to overcome the disadvantages of the existing consequent pole. Two methods have been proposed to improve axial leakage magnetic flux caused by the intersect magnet consequent pole structure. Finally, we propose a method to reduce the cogging torque and minimize the use of magnets with the same performance standard.
