Assessing the Energy, Indoor Air Quality, and Moisture Performance for a Three-Story Building Using an Integrated Model, Part Three: Development of Integrated Model and Applications

The overall building performance depends mainly on the energy performance, indoor air quality, and moisture performance. In order to accurately calculate the building performance, the development of a model with the ability to integrate all three performances is required. In this research, a combination of three models namely EnergyPlus for energy, CONTAM for indoor air quality, and WUFI for moisture transport are used to develop an integrated model. The mechanism of this combination is based on the exchange of temperatures, airflows, and heating-cooling flows control variables between all three sub-models. By using the paired sample t-test, an integrated model is verified and its accuracy is validated. The accuracy of the integrated model is verified by the paired sample t-test. Depletion of fossil fuel deposits is the main current issue related to the world’s power generation. Renewable energy sources integrated with energy efficiency represent an effective solution. The electrification of end-use coupled with renewable power generation integration is considered as an important tool to achieve these tasks. However, the current electric power system does not currently have the suitable features to allow this change. Therefore, in the future, it has to allow two-way direction power flows, communication, and automated controls to fully manage the system and customers. Heterogeneous Effects of the Belt and Road Initiative on Energy Efficiency in Participating Countries

The Belt and Road investment involves a large number of renewable energy projects, but whether the energy efficiency is linked to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation has yet to be established in the literature. This research attempts to close this gap by looking at how the BRI affects the energy efficiency of participating nations after the fact through a counterfactual analysis. Based on the Difference-in-Difference-in-Difference (DDD) and quantile DID methods for the panel dataset covering 178 nations and areas for the period of 2002 to 2018, we explored the impacts of BRI on energy efficiency vary by different energy efficiency quantiles, resource endowments, and income levels. LCAF are a crude-derived alternative to kerosene, offering some Green House Gas (GHG) savings, and have been defined by ICAO as eligible fuels for mitigating the environmental impact of aviation. Comparative Research of Thermochemical Conversion Properties of Coarse-Energy Crops

In the world, as in Lithuania, there is a costant search for new crops suitable for energy conversion. The coarse-energy crops and their biomass studied for this paper were assessed in a comprehensive manner, i.e., not only their calorific value and ash content but also their ash melting properties and pollutants emitted during the thermochemical conversion. The calorific value of energy crops varies from 17.92 ± 0.32 to 18.50 ± 0.66 MJ kg−1 and decreases in the following order: A. dubia > M. giganteus > C. sativa. Ash content varies from 1.51 ± 0.03 to 3.36 ± 0.23% and decreases in the following order: C. sativa > A. dubia > M. giganteus. The lowest primary ash deformation (648 ± 8 °C) was recorded for C. sativa. Creep Rupture and Permeability Evolution in High Temperature Heat-Treated Sandstone Containing Pre-Existing Twin Flaws

Utilizing underground coal gasification cavities for carbon capture and sequestration provides a potentially economic and sustainable solution to a vexing environmental and energy problem. A new DC fault current limiter (FCL)-based circuit breaker (CB) for DC microgrid (MG) clusters is proposed in this paper. The analytical expressions of the DC fault current of a bidirectional interlink DC/DC converter in the interconnection line of two nearby DC MGs are analyzed in detail. Meanwhile, a DC fault clearing solution (based on using a DC FCL in series with a DC circuit breaker) is proposed. This structure offers low complexity, cost, and power losses. To assess the performance of the proposed method, time-domain simulation studies are carried out on a test DC MG cluster in a MATLAB/Simulink environment. The results of the proposed analytical expressions are compared with simulation results. The obtained results verify the analytical expression of the fault current and prove the effectiveness of the proposed DC fault current limiting and clearing strategy.

Evaporation Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop of Low-Global Warming Potential Refrigerant HFO-1234yf in 6.95-mm Horizontal Smooth Tube

This study investigated the evaporative heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop characteristics of R-1234yf in a horizontal tube with an inner diameter of 6.95 mm under various experimental conditions. The heat transfer coefficient increased with an increase in quality but showed a sharp decrease in the high-quality area. In addition, the heat transfer coefficient increased as the mass flux, heat flux, and saturation temperature increased. Although R-1234yf and R-134a presented similar heat transfer coefficients, that of R-134a was higher. The pressure drop increased with an increase in the quality and mass flux but decreased with an increase in the saturation temperature. The pressure drop of R-134a was larger than that of R-1234yf. A Certificateless Authenticated Key Agreement Scheme for the Power IoT

Power Internet of Things (IoT) is the application of IoT technology in the field of power grid, which can better control all kinds of power equipment, power personnel and operating environment. However, access to mass terminals brings higher requirements for terminal authentication and key management for the power IoT. And the traditional public key infrastructure (PKI) and identity-based public key cryptography (IB-PKC) exist the problems of certificate management and key escrow. Therefore, the paper proposes a novel authenticated key agreement scheme based on the certificateless public key cryptography (CL-PKC) mechanism. In addition, the proposed scheme is proven with the improved extended Canetti-Krawczyk (eCK) security model. Three-Phase and Single-Phase Measurement of Overhead Power Line Impedance Evaluation

Calculation and measurement of the overhead power lines electrical parameters is common practice in today’s electrical engineering industry; however, there is very little data to actually compare these two approaches because measured data in such detail are mostly unavailable for academic purposes. Based on the very detailed model of an overhead power line in MATLAB Simulink environment and conducted experimental measurement, this article specifically covers the exact evaluation of the impedance of the investigated overhead power line. Differences between calculation and experimental measurement are shown and discussed accordingly, where, surprisingly, the biggest deviation was observed in the positive resistance parameter.
