Research on Load Optimal Dispatch for High-Temperature CHP Plants through Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm with the Levy Flight
February 21, 2023 (v1)
Subject: Optimization
Keywords: CHP plants, economic operation, grey wolf algorithm, Levy flight, load dispatch
The combined heating and power (CHP) plants are considered one of the promising methods to support the goal of “Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality”. It is an important means to take heat and power load optimal dispatch (LOD) to further reduce the energy consumption of CHP plants. To achieve a better load dispatch scheme, this paper employs a potent algorithm by integrating the grey wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm and the Levy flight (i.e., Levy−GWO algorithm) to overcome premature convergence. Moreover, the constraint condition processing method is also proposed to handle the system constraints for ensuring the results within feasible zones. To confirm the effectiveness of this algorithm, it is tested on two widely used test systems (Test system I and Test system II). The accuracy of the used algorithm is proved by comparing the obtained results and reported data in other literature. Results show that the Levy−GWO algorithm can be used to obtain relatively lower power generation costs... [more]

Optimization of Water Injection Strategy before Re-Stimulation Considering Fractures Propagation
February 21, 2023 (v1)
Subject: Optimization
Keywords: frac hit, infill well, parent well, re-stimulation, water injection
Water injection before re-stimulation has a positive effect to mitigate the “frac hit” and increase oil production in tight reservoirs. However, the study of water injection strategy optimization has not been thoroughly investigated. Some conclusions can be found in the existing literature, but the pressure and stress distribution, fractures morphology and oil production were not considered as a whole workflow during the study. In addition, the different reservoir deficit was not considered. Although technical experience and economic benefit have been obtained in some field tests, failed cases still exist. To fill this gap, a series of numerical models are established based on a tight reservoir located in northwest China. Under the different re-stimulation timing, the pressure distribution, stress distribution, and fractures morphology after water injection of different injection/production ratios are calculated, respectively. The oil and water production are predicted. The results sho... [more]

February 21, 2023 (v1)
Subject: Optimization
Keywords: evolutionary algorithms, extended warranty decision, failure dependence, multi-component systems, preventive maintenance, two-dimensional warranty
Human society is entering the era of Industry 4.0; engineering systems are becoming more complex, which increases the difficulties of maintenance support work. Failure dependence exists widely in multi-component systems. In this work, a model of two-dimensional (2D) warranty decision making was constructed by using a failure-dependence analysis for multi-component systems and by considering the extended warranty cost and the system availability. The decision was to cut the warranty cost as much as possible for manufacturers, while the constraint condition was the minimum acceptable availability for the customer. The model combined preventive maintenance as well as corrective maintenance strategies. Under the condition that the multi-component system is replaced upon the expiration of the extended warranty (EW), the optimal 2D EW duration and preventive maintenance interval could be obtained through the model. In a case analysis, the optimal EW scheme for the gearbox of an electric mult... [more]

Design of Soft-Sensing Model for Alumina Concentration Based on Improved Deep Belief Network
February 21, 2023 (v1)
Subject: Optimization
Keywords: alumina concentration, aluminum electrolysis, empirical model decomposition, Particle Swarm Optimization, soft-sensing model
Alumina concentration is an important parameter in the production process of aluminum electrolysis. Due to the complex production environment in the industrial field and the complex physical and chemical reactions in the aluminum reduction cell, nowadays it is still unable to carry out online measurement and real-time monitoring. For solving this problem, a soft-sensing model of alumina concentration based on a deep belief network (DBN) is proposed. However, the soft-sensing model may have some limitations for different cells and different periodic working conditions such as local anode effect, pole changing, and bus lifting in the same cell. The empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) with the DBN are combined, and an EMD−PSO−DBN method that can denoize and optimize the model structure is proposed. The simulation results show that the improved soft-sensing model improves the accuracy and universality of prediction.

Subject: Optimization
Keywords: copper anode slime, Kaldor furnace smelting process, leaching behavior, precious metals, pressure acid leaching
The Kaldor furnace smelting process is currently the mainstream process for treating copper anode slime, but the existence of copper, tellurium and other impurities has adverse effects on the recovery of gold and silver during the Kaldor furnace smelting stage.
