Method for Evaluation of the Utility’s and Consumers’ Contribution to the Current and Voltage Distortions at the PCC

In this article, a method that allows sharing responsibilities for the generation of harmonic currents between the utility and consumers powered by one point of common coupling (PCC) is addressed. For these purposes, mathematical modeling of the power supply system (PSS) with two consumers is carried out in order to introduce new indices using the simplest PSS structure as an example. Two indices are introduced that quantify the consumers’ contribution to the distortion of current and voltage at the PCC and that evaluate harmonic emission from the utility side. Experimental tests are carried out where both linear and nonlinear loads are considered, capacitive loads are taken into account, and harmonic distortions from the utility side are modeled to show the applicability of the indices in a wide range of load types. Short and Long-Run Causal Effects of CO2 Emissions, Energy Use, GDP and Population Growth: Evidence from India Using the ARDL and VECM Approaches

This paper investigates the nexus between CO2 emissions (CO2E), GDP, energy use (ENU), and population growth (PG) in India from 1980−2018 by comparing the “vector error correction” model (VECM) and “auto regressive distributed lag” (ARDL). We applied the unit root test, Johansen multi-variate cointegration, and performed a Variance decomposition analysis using the Cholesky approach. The VECM and ARDL-bound testing approaches to cointegration suggest a long-term equilibrium nexus between GDP, energy use, population growth and CO2E. The empirical outcomes show the existence of a long-term equilibrium nexus between the variables. The Granger causality results show that short-term bi-directional causality exists between GDP and ENU, while a uni-directional causality between CO2E and GDP, CO2E and ENU, CO2E and PG, and PG and ENU. Policy Insights to Accelerate Cleaner Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage Operations

The literature is replete with concerns on the environmental impact of steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD), but rigorous analysis of its improved environmental performance over the past 20 years remains unresolved, as well as the underlying technological reasons for this improvement. Here, we present an analysis of historical and future greenhouse gas (GHG) performance of SAGD operations in Alberta, Canada, considering for the first-time factors that affected technology deployment. Energy Poverty among Tertiary Students in Aotearoa New Zealand

However, there has been very little research on tertiary students’ experiences of energy poverty in New Zealand. Furthermore, it aimed to identify disparities between different demographic groups, understand the effects of COVID-19 and evaluate the effectiveness of the support policies available to students. The aim of this paper is to assess the territorial cohesion of municipalities (gminas) in Poland using quantitative data and non-parametric modelling techniques. The full population of 2174 Polish municipalities divided into rural and urban-rural municipalities was examined. The time interval of the study, i.e., 2005−2017, allows us to capture the changes stimulated by the implementation of the cohesion policy, i.e., the programme of socio-economic transformation in Poland, implemented in the programming period 2007−2013. The current biomass provision structures are unfit to take on the diversity of biomass residues and their respective supply chains and cannot ensure the sustainability of feedstock supply in an ecological, social and economical fashion.
