Professor of Practice Position in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University

The ROBERT F. SMITH SCHOOL OF CHEMICAL AND BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY, Ithaca, New York invites applications for the Professor-of-Practice faculty position. This is a long-term, non-tenure-track faculty appointment for individuals with significant, high-level experience as leaders from managerial, technical or research positions in their organization. Examples include responsibility in process and product design, innovation, manufacturing, leadership, entrepreneurship and business. Successful candidates are highly motivated to bring experiences from their successful industry career into the classroom. Professors-of-Practice engage in other responsibilities that contribute to the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the College, for example advising students on future career opportunities, serving as advisors and managers for team-based projects and assisting students in their entrepreneurial endeavors through connections with Cornell’s blossoming entrepreneurship ecosystem. Professors-of-Practice in the College of Engineering at Cornell University are expected to:

  • Excel in classroom teaching,

  • Participate in advising and mentoring of students on academics, career development and networking,

  • Contribute to the development of courses, projects and long-lasting teaching materials,

  • Engage with other faculty on the development of new curricular and pedagogical projects for BS and MEng students, and

  • Provide educational contributions and leadership in areas of importance to the department, college and, where appropriate, to the university and nation.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in chemical engineering or the equivalent, ideally an advanced degree in business management or engineering and a minimum of 10 years of industrial experience.
